Our Veterinary Services

What is Integrative Medicine?

Integrative medicine integrates or combines the best of both worlds – conventional Western medicine and alternative medicine – together into a whole. At Acres Animal Hospital, our goal is to provide integrative veterinary medicine in a friendly, caring environment to all our patient. On a case by case basis, the best treatment techniques are chosen from the conventional and alternative options and are combined into a customized treatment plan for each patient. In addition to conventional (regular) western medicine, such as vaccines, surgery, blood tests and xrays, we also use alternative medicine, such as chiropractic, acupuncture and herbal remedies, to provide a holistic approach to treating our patients. We believe that the whole patient needs to be treated for the best possible outcome, and address lifestyle as well as underlying causes of visible symptoms when treating our patients.

Wellness and Vaccination Programs

One of the best things you can do for your pet is to keep him or her healthy. And one of the easiest and least expensive ways to do that is by bringing in your pet for regular exams and vaccinations.  Up-to-date vaccinations will prevent your four-legged family members from contracting potentially fatal diseases. Regular examinations will also allow health problems to be identified early – before they become fatal or difficult to treat.

Preventive Services

A simple way you can help keep your pet healthy is by protecting him or her against parasites. Heartworms, fleas, ticks, and other internal and external parasites are much more than just pests; they can cause life-threatening conditions in your pet—and cause severe, potentially fatal, health problems for you and your family.  It is also possible to prevent illness and injury with preventative medicine – both at our hospital and in our own home. Problems such as ear infections, “hot spots” or skin infections, bad breath, and repetitive sport injuries can be prevented or reduced with preventative care.

Dentistry

Imagine what your mouth would feel like if you never brushed your teeth or went to the dentist. For many dogs and cats, this is a painful reality. Dental disease can also cause other, potentially fatal, health problems, such as kidney, liver and heat failure. Professional dental cleaning, dental surgery, and preventative home care can keep Fluffy and Rover health, from sparkling white teeth to toes.

Sports Medicine

Just like human athletes, canine and equine athletes can suffer injuries ranging from repetitive stress injuries to soft tissue trauma to broken bones. We offer chiropractic, soft tissue therapy, and acupuncture to both canine and equine athletes to manage repetitive stress injuries. We also offer diagnostic and surgical services to canine athletes for more serious injuries. Our integrative health services can help keep animal athletes doing what they love best.
